Canon demonstrated Ultra High resolution 8K video shot with new Cinema EOS camera

Canon and Miyazaki Prefecture collaborate on ultra-high-resolution 8K video “Origins of Japan’s Mythology”

Canon, in cooperation with Miyazaki Prefecture, has produced a new, ultra-high-resolution 8K video highlighting some of the prefecture’s most iconic sightseeing locations and cultural elements. The project, entitled “Origins of Japan’s Mythology,” aims to promote tourism to Miyazaki and to preserve its natural beauty and cultural heritage. Using a Canon 8K camera equipped with the Company’s rich lineup of EF Cinema Lenses covering the full range from wide-angle to telephoto, this video features such scenes as Takachiho Shrine and ritual Kagura dancing, Amanoyasugawara cave and sake making at a brewery in the town of Hinokage. Watch the video and experience the majesty of Miyazaki in exquisite detail!

Sharing his thoughts on capturing Miyazaki with 8K equipment, director of “Origins of Japan’s Mythology” and CEO of Full score Co., Ltd. Ichiro Shimada said :

“Of the six days we spent filming, we only had clear skies for one. But we were still able to capture the full range of Miyazaki’s graceful beauty in 8K, from Amanoyasugawara cave against the backdrop of faint rain to droplets forming outside Amanoiwato. Then on the final day, the sun finally emerged and we witnessed a miraculous sea of clouds from our vantage point at Kunimigaoka. The sublime sight of gentle drifting clouds and the soft glow of the sun is enough to take your breath away, and I feel we fully captured this in our 8K content.

“Canon’s 8K technology not delivers not only extremely high resolution, but also high dynamic range and rich color expression. And with the ability to record in 8K RAW, we could represent our subjects with more true-to-life visuals. Finally, thanks to the ease of scaling our existing 4K equipment to accommodate our workflow, we were able to film without any trouble. I hope our work will allow even more people to experience the beautiful scenery of Miyazaki.”

Canon’s 8K Technologies

Canon is leveraging its proprietary optical and image-processing technologies to develop a full lineup of 8K equipment spanning input to output, including cameras, lenses and displays. The 8K camera used to record this content is equipped with a Canon-developed 8K image sensor that realizes ultra-high resolution of 8192 x 4320 pixels—16x that of 2K—high-precision HDR and a wide color gamut. All of this makes possible the capture of footage with quality, presence and immersion that’s like seeing with the naked eye. In addition to hardware, Canon is pursuing development of such fully immersive experiences as the Free Viewpoint Video System, which gives viewers the feeling of watching an event in person. Going forward, Canon will continue striving to develop and deliver new visual solutions and experiences.

MELVILLE, N.Y., September 12, 2018 – Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the new flagship model for the Company’s XF-series professional camcorders, the XF705. The camcorder features 4K (3840 x 2160) video shooting enabling users to record high-image quality at 60p/4:2:2/10-bit/HDR1 video to on-board SD cards. Canon Issued Service Advisory On EOS-70D Cameras

From Canon USA:

Thank you for using Canon products.

We would like to offer our sincere apologies to users who have been inconvenienced by the phenomenon described below. We value the trust our customers have placed in us, and we are dedicated to continuously improving product quality as well as delivering industry-leading service and support.

Phenomenon

In rare cases, error 70 or error 80 may repeatedly display on some EOS 70D digital SLR cameras due to an internal communication failure resulting from the structure of the electrical printed circuit board. If use of the camera is subsequently continued, a state may occur in which the camera’s power does not turn on. In most cases, this phenomenon occurs in conjunction with continuous use of the camera while the camera’s internal temperature is high, such as when shooting movies continuously.

“Err 70” or “Err 80” will appear on the LCD monitor at the back of the camera or on the LCD panel at the top of the camera. There may be rare occurrences of error 70 or error 80, after which the camera functions can be recovered by turning the power off and on again, or by re-installing and reinserting the battery. The phenomenon described here refers to the frequent reccurrence of error 70 or error 80.

Possibly Affected Cameras

Only some EOS 70D digital SLR cameras are affected by this phenomenon.

The phenomenon may occur only in cameras whose first two digits in its serial number are within the range of “00” to “22”.

Support

EOS 70D digital SLR cameras on which error 70 or error 80 occurs repeatedly and that have a serial number within the range specified above will be inspected/repaired free of charge. Please note that inspection/repairs for any other issue will be handled as normal repairs.

If you wish to make a request for the free inspection/repairs, please bring the camera body only with the body cap attached to a Canon Service Center.

If you have not already done so, please register your EOS 70D so that we will be able to notify you via email about any future service upgrades.

This information is for residents of the United States and its five territories only. If you do not reside in the USA or its five territories, please contact the Canon Customer Support Center in your region.

Thank you,

30 Year History Of Canon EOS Camera System Video

Thirty years of Canon EOS camera history in a short video clip. My readers know me as The Wildlife Ho-tographer. I have been using Canon equipment for over a quarter of a century. Over the years, I have migrated from film to digital cameras but still kept my EOS-1 V, the state-of-the-art Canon film camera announced back in 2000.

The above video is a trip down memory lane for Canon owners. Through the decades, I have owned many Canon cameras. My first pro body was the EOS-1 in 1989. Then I bought the first Canon digital camera, the D30 in 2000 and the first 'affordable' full frame digital camera, the EOS-5D in 2005.

Currently, my main bodies are the EOS-1D X Mark II, EOS-1D Mark IV, EOS-5Ds and EOS-7D Mark II. You can follow my travels on Facebook and Twitter. See my equipment bag and works on MichaelDanielHo.com
