My readers know why I am not buying Canon mirrorless camera now. When the EOS R1 debuts next year, I may be interested in acquiring one. The soon to be announced, semi-pro mirrorless camera will be called EOS-R5. It will be positioned below the EOS-1D X Mark III and may have the following specifications :

Earlier this month, I reported Canon is planning to announce a new EF-M fast prime lens for the EOS-M mirrorless camera line, roughly equivalent to a 50mm full frame focal length. With the expected EOS-M50 to be released soon, the latest information points to a lens something like the EF-M 32mm f/1.4 or f/1.8 lens being announced in the second half of 2018. Many of Canon's wide angle lens do not come with IS and this may be another lens in that category.
A followup to my earlier post on what Canon intends to announce before the CP+ Show in Yokohama, Japan in March. The EOS-M50 will have an APS-C sensor and the EF-M mount but will most probably come with 4K video, making it the first APS-C camera from Canon with 4K capability. Canon EOS M50

Images of the soon to be announced Canon EOS-M6 mirrorless camera and EVF have been leaked. I am waiting for their full frame, mirrorless camera with EF mount to be announced before buying a mirrorless model.
Apparently, Canon has decided to announce another mirrorless camera and have decided to 'shake things up a bit' by giving it the EOS-M6 designation. It will apprently be another incremental improvement to the current EOS-M3 model.
Sony is still ahead in mirrorless cameras and Canon should just take the gloves off and leap frog them This will give photographers like myself a serious reason to buy a professional grade mirrorless model.
Recently, Canon rumors on the Internet suggested the long awaited Canon EOS-6D Mark II camera may instead be replaced by a full frame mirrorless model. I can tell you with a good degree of certainty that will not be the case.
As reported earlier in September, Canon has officially announced the EOS-M5 mirrorless camera. You can download a copy of the Owner Manual at Canon USA. The EOS-M5 is available for pre-order at your favorite camera retailers now. I have never been a fan of mirrorless camera but for those who want a small, light weight camera that pack a punch above the point-n-shoot models, this may be worth a look.
