Many of you know me as the Wildlife Ho-tographer using Canon equipment for 25 years. Over the past four years, I have picked the EOS-7D / 7D Mark II as the best value APS-C DSLR for sports and wildlife photography. With the recent announcement of the Canon EOS-80D, many people want to know whether they should upgrade from their current Rebel or EOS-XXD cameras, while others want to know if they should buy the EOS-7D Mark II or the new camera. 

My advice is the following. If you are into sports and wildlife photography, buy the EOS-7D Mark II. Keep your current EOS-70D unless you really need a slightly better video and AF system (including AF @ f/8) and 4 more MP for cropping. If you are on a budget and want a very good, APS-C camera for action photography, buy a refurbished and well cared for EOS-7D from Canon or from a trusted source.

Canon will be announcing the EOS-80D, PowerShot G7X Mark II and SX720 very soon. Perhaps before the CP+ Show on February 25 in Yokohama, Japan.

World's Largest Photo - 365 GB of Mont Blanc

Italian photographer, Filippo Blengini produced the largest panoramic photo ever made, with a Canon EOS-70D camera, EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II lens, and a 2X Extender III. The previous world record holder was a 320GB panoramic photo of London, taken with the Canon EOS-7D and EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II lens.

The new photo took 2 weeks to capture. The team worked in altitudes of around 3.500 meters (about 11.500 ft) and temperatures of below -10 degree Celcius (14 degree Fahrenheit). They took 70,000 photos of Europe's highest mountain, Mont Blanc. The 365 gigapixel, high resolution photo can be viewed here. 

Canon EOS-70D Camera - $815 Refurbished

The Canon EOS-70D is a fine camera and now the Canon Refurbished Store and a big New York online camera merchant are selling the refurbished model for $815 and $880 respectively. You will not find a link to these sites on my blog because I do not accept any advertising or commissioned link. All my recommendations are unbiased.
