Canon EOS-M10 Available in Canon USA eStore

The soon to be announced Canon EOS-M10 mirrorless camera is available on Canon USA eStore. The new Powershot G5X , Powershot G9X and EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM kit lens are also available. The new camera comes in black, white and gray colors.

Step up to EOS camera quality in a simple and easy-to-use package! The EOS M10 camera combines a lightweight, compact design with the power and image quality EOS cameras are known for along with the versatility of interchangeable lenses. Inside is an 18.0 Megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor that’s paired with the DIGIC 6 Image Processor to help capture colorful, detailed videos and photos, even in low-light situations. To help expand creative opportunities, the EOS M10 is compatible with a wide range of compact EF-M lenses specially designed for EOS M series digital cameras, and the extensive range of EF* and EF-S* lenses used with Canon’s DSLR cameras. It also has easy-to-use and automatic settings like the innovative Creative Assist to simplify photo adjustments and help ensure your images are how you want them. Self Portrait mode extends that assistance to help you grab great selfies by adjusting settings that smooth skin tones and artistically blur backgrounds. If it’s too dark for a normal photo, a built-in pop-up flash lights up dark spaces. All these powerful features combine to make the EOS M10 worthy of your attention, while being conveniently wrapped in a slim, stylish camera.

Legendary Image Quality in the Palm of Your Hand

The EOS M10 camera features a lightweight, comfortably designed body that’s easy to hold and take with you. From overseas vacations to backyard family gatherings, the EOS M10’s compact size means it can easily be on hand, without getting in the way. A built-in thumb grip also lets you grasp the body securely, while the rounded edges make holding the camera easier when recording long video clips. All this while still featuring the image quality for which Canon EOS cameras are so well known.

Superb Detail With Minimal Noise

The 18.0 Megapixel CMOS sensor captures lots of detail with very little image noise. The sensor itself is APS-C type, which is the same size as the sensor found in Canon’s EOS Rebel series of cameras. The high resolution means you can crop the image to focus on one section, or have enough detail to print large photos to display or give to your family and friends. An ISO range of 100–12800 (expandable to 25600) lets you capture images on bright sunny beaches and darkened streets.

Fast Focus

Life happens fast, and there’s little worse than missing out on capturing that perfect moment because the camera was too slow to focus. The EOS M10 camera uses Canon’s Hybrid CMOS AF II autofocus system, which measures up to 49 different points in an image quickly and accurately to help get it in focus. In addition, face detection and object tracking help keep the subject of your photo focused, even if they move. What’s more, the EOS M10 is compatible with all EF-M lenses, which feature an AF+MF mode that lets you easily combine the speed of autofocus with the creative flourish possible with manual focus.

Get the Shot You Want, at Any Angle

It’s vital to see if you’ve composed the photo you want. The EOS M10 camera’s 3.0-inch touch screen has 1.04 million pixels, letting you preview images in high detail. It can pivot a full 180°, meaning you can capture a unique dog’s-eye-view of the world or flip the screen up to get that epic selfie.

Superb Moviemaking Made Easy

The EOS M10 camera can capture 1920×1080 Full HD video at frame rates of both 24p and 30p, and can record in MP4 format for easy sharing online.

Moviemaking Made Easy with Manual Movie Control

The EOS M10 camera is a fine moviemaking tool. With touch-activated AF and a number of manual controls available, it’s easy to make intuitive setting adjustments silently and on the fly using the EOS M10’s dials and touch operations.

Fusing Canon’s outstanding image quality and DSLR-levels of control in a small and lightweight camera body, the EOS M3 camera offers the ability to capture important moments in outstanding detail.

At the heart of the EOS M3 camera is Canon’s latest and most advanced digital imaging technologies, including the company’s high-resolution 24.2 megapixel APS-C CMOS image sensor and its most advanced image processor, DIGIC 6, delivering premium quality stills and Full HD videos. Combined with super-fast AF performance, thanks to a new 49-point Hybrid CMOS AF III Autofocus System, this digital camera gives photographers the freedom to capture the beauty of movement. “Canon U.S.A. is bringing to market a new member of the EOS family – the EOS M3 – to help satisfy the market’s demand for high-quality compact cameras with large image sensors and interchangeable lenses,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “It is the ideal camera for advanced amateurs and enthusiasts looking for a compact interchangeable lens camera option with genuine EOS camera system support, performance and compatibility, as well as professional photographers looking for a full-featured compact secondary camera.”

The LCD panel’s tilting capability makes it easy to shoot from various angles while the capacitive touch screen allows intuitive image capture and playback with easy-to-understand information and real-time controls.

Canon's Big Plans For EOS-M Line Of Cameras

Canon EOS-M line of mirrorless cameras

The world of mirrorless cameras have enjoyed a good run in the last few years. The offerings from companies like Sony are especially innovative but still not professional grade. Canon was late to the mirrorless arena and played catch up by introducing the EOS-M and EF-M line about 3 years ago.

The EOS-M line of mirrorless cameras is now in its third generation, with the latest EOS-M3 announced in February 2015. Canon's EOS-M cameras sell quite well in Asia, especially in Japan but it has yet to penetrate the rest of the world with any great success. The latest version is not even exported to North America.

Apparently, Canon has decided to throw its weight and muscle whole-heartedly behind their mirrorless platform after deciding it will be a priority product. They are the largest photography company in the world and have numerous patents and designs in their laboratories waiting to be brought to market. The EF-M line of lenses will be strengthened with additional zoom and prime lenses.

The next generation, the EOS-M4 may be launched as a global camera, much like the EOS Rebel line. Management has not decided when to launch this big mirrorless camera push but it will be next year and I estimate after the announcement of the much anticipated EOS-5D Mk IV camera, expected to be early 2016. The Canon EXPO 2015 is taking place next month in New York City. There may be some mention of their new EOS-M line of innovations and offerings for next year. Keep checking back for the latest development.

Canon EOS-M3 Camera Coming To North America

Canon EOS-M3 camera with EF lens

Canon announced the EOS-M3 mirrorless camera on February 6. This is their third attempt to make this line of camera popular outside Asia. Although the EOS-M is selling well in Asia, it never caught on with the photography crowd in Europe and North America. Like the EOS-M2, the camera is not scheduled to be exported to North America but one can easily buy it through Amazon in the United Kingdom and Germany or Canon in Hong Kong. Click here and here to see sample images taken in Japan with the pre-production camera and see a video review of the camera.

One reason why the first version of the EOS-M did not catch on outside Asia was due to the limited selection of lenses but now Canon has built up the EOS-M line of glass. Canon Japan is in serious discussion right now trying to decide whether to export the EOS-M3 to North America. My guess is they will decide to go ahead with the move.

I am still on my Alaskan photo tour. Currently on Round 3 (last round) and will be returning home in a few days. You can follow my travels on Facebook and Twitter and see my works on MichaelDanielHo.com

Canon EOS-M3 Camera Review - How Good Is It?

Canon EOS-M3 mirrorless camera with EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 STM lens

The world of mirrorless camera is getting crowded. There are at least six other major competitors out there - Olympus, Panasonic, Sony, Nikon, Samsung and Fujifilm. Although the EOS-M3 is one of the more expensive cameras, some may find the extra cost justified because of the extensive lineup of interchangeable lens and excellent accessories like the electronic viewfinder.

Ephotozine did a very good review on the EOS-M3 camera and I find it quite helpful for those who may be looking to add a mirrorless camera to their Canon inventory but reluctant to mix brands. Although I have considered buying the EOS-M3 myself for general purpose use because of its ability to work with all my EF lenses via an adapter, it is really no substitute for a high quality DSLR. New Canon EOS-M Camera Coming In 2015?

    Canon EOS-M2 line of cameras

Remember the Canon EOS-M camera? Although this is not one of Canon's better selling camera line outside of Asia, rumor suggests they are not ready to give up on their ambition to expand the EOS-M appeal beyond Asia. There are high level meetings and discussions at Canon's divisions in Europe and the Americas, perhaps in preparation for a new replacement to the existing EOS-M2 model. In the past, there are talks that Canon may introduced a pair of new EOS-M cameras - one consumer and one prosumer version.

Although, in the past Canon has mentioned more lenses will be available for the EOS-M camera system. Personally, I think the demise of Canon's mirrorless camera system outside of Asia is premature. The EOS-M3 may come to North America and Europe eventually. However, I think that is the extent of their ambition when it comes to the mirrorless line. To introduce a prosumer version of the EOS-M will further blur the difference between the lower end models and make it harder for customers to decide on which camera to buy.
