Canon Registers EOS-5D Mark IV Camera With Indonesian Certification Authority

In May, I reported the EOS-5D Mark IV pre-production camera was out on field tests with photographers who have signed Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with Canon. The EOS-5D Mark IV is Canon's most anticipated camera after the EOS-1D X Mark II because it promises a continuation of the highly successful EOS-5D line into a new decade.

Digicame-Info reported Canon has registered a new camera with the Indonesian Certification Authority. My sources in Asia has confirmed Model name DS126601 is indeed the EOS-5D Mark IV.

Canon will be announcing the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II lens with the new camera. This is my favorite Canon 'wide to short' zoom 'L' lens and it can really take advantage of an upgrade. Looks like Canon has decided to offer the new camera and lens as a kit. I have not decided whether to buy the EOS-5D Mark IV when it comes out. I view the new camera as a little brother to the EOS-1D X Mark II and a more agile cousin to the EOS-5Ds. However, I will definitely buy the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS Series II lens.

Below is the latest information I have on the new camera right now.  The EOS-5D Mark IV will most probably be announced in Q3, in time for the Photokina Show in Cologne, Germany on September 20. Keep checking back. I will be able to confirm more specs later . . . . .

• DIGIC 7 Processor. Dual DIGIC 6 Processors also possible
• Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology
• ISO 100 - 51200 with expanded capability to 204800

• Red AF points in AI Servo (same as EOS-1D X Mark II)
• Burst rate of 8 to 10 fps. Most probably 9 fps

• Improved material and ergonomics. Slightly lighter

In May, I reported the EOS-5D Mark IV pre-production camera is out on field tests with photographers who have signed Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with Canon. The EOS-5D Mark IV is Canon's most anticipated camera after the EOS-1D X Mark II because it promises a continuation of the highly successful EOS-5D line into a new decade. My latest information points to the camera coming with dual card slots - CFast 2.0 and the newer SDXC UHS-II.

This makes perfect sense since the new camera will shoot 4K videos that may even slightly exceed the EOS-1D X Mark II's quality. To further celebrate ten years of profound imagery, Canon Europe is also launching a pan-European competition that will offer participants the chance to win limited edition EOS 5D anniversary prizes.

All photographers, from amateurs to professionals, both smartphone and camera users, are invited to share an image that they feel represents a story of change. A panel of award winning judges, including Canon Ambassador Brent Stirton and Getty Images photographer Toby Smith, will select the winners. Although Canon recently released their latest version, the EOS-5Ds and EOS-5DsR, I will not be buying this model because it is not the right tool for my wildlife photography. Canon EOS-5D 10th Anniversary Celebration in San Francisco

Celebrate 10 years of Canon EOS-5D Cameras. September 2015 will be the 10th anniversary of the launch of the original EOS-5D. The EOS-5D series cameras have been landmarks in DSLR photography.

The original EOS-5D brought full frame DSLR photography to the consumer and advanced amateur market. The EOS 5D Mark II raised the bar to 21.1 MP resolution while being the first DSLR to capture 1080P HD video. Hollywood has never been the same with TV shows and major motion pictures shot using the EOS-D Mk II.

The EOS-5D Mk III again pushed the limits with a combination of high resolution, amazing high ISO performance and six frames per second. The EOS-5D Mk III also brought the EOS 5D series to new levels with 61 AF points (similar to the EOS-1DX).

Now Canon has added the EOS-5Ds and EOS-5DsR cameras that push the envelope to 50.6 MP resolution. There is a top-rated merchant on eBay selling the Canon EOS-5Ds and EOS-5DsR cameras for $2,949 and $3,499, respectively, including free shipping. Hurry, it won't last. This is an excellent deal for those who want the highest mega pixel camera on the market and crave super high resolution photography.

I will not be buying this camera since it is not the right wildlife photography tool for me. I am waiting for the EOS-5D Mk IV and EOS-1D X Mk II, coming out later this year or early 2016.
