The Year In Photography 2015 by DigitalRev

Dual Humpback whales breaching in Frederick Sound, Alaska

And now a bit of levity, from the 'eminent actors and photographers' at DigitalRev discussing The Year in Photography 2015 and what to expect for 2016. Read my previous post on what I expect from Canon in 2016. You can see my equipment bag and works on MichaelDanielHo.com

Frankly, the question of Mirrorless vs DSLR is a daft one. Both format will thrive and survive because they appeal to different types of photographers and photography. Much like the current state of the automobile industry. Almost all major car manufacturers have both gasoline and alternative fuel powered vehicles in their lineup for sale to different type of drivers and owners.

You can see a comparison between the Sony a7RII vs Canon EOS-5DsR cameras.

Street Photography - The Master (Fan Ho) and the Apprentice (DigitalRev)

My readers know I am The Wildlife Ho-tographer but also do a little travel photography now and then. Recently, I came across the works of Fan Ho (no relation to me), an exceptional 'street' photographer with a keen eye on composition and a master of light. Mr. Ho is in his 80s now and his photos deal mostly with street scenes from 'old' Hong Kong.

Ted Forbes from The Art Of Photography put together the video below and analyzed the photos and composition of Ho's work through the decades. You can also see a tongue-and-cheek video from DigitalRev on street photography, expectation vs reality. Take a look at my other post on how to do street photography with an inexpensive camera.

The Eight Levels Of Photographers, by DigitalRev

The World of Photographers and its levels, according to DigitalRev. I'd rather consider myself as a level-headed wildlife photographer. You can see my works on MichaelDanielHo.com

DigitalRev Presents 10 Simple Photography Hacks

Remember the old TV show, MacGyver? The series featured Angus MacGyver, who works as a secret agent, is resourceful and possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of the physical sciences. He solves complex problems by making things out of ordinary objects, along with his ever-present Swiss Army knife.

Now the guys at DigitalRev is attempting the same feat but in the photography world, by showing us how to use everyday items to perform photographic hacks and tricks. It's mostly tongue and cheek but a little bit of levity on a Sunday morning does little harm.

For more ideas on Do It Yourself lighting setup one can do at home, check out this post as well.
