Adobe Lightroom CC 2015.6 and Lightroom 6.6 Updates Available

Lightroom CC 2015.6 and Lightroom 6.6 are now available. The goal of this release is to provide additional camera raw support, lens profile support and address bugs that were introduced in previous releases of Lightroom. This release also includes a new Guided Upright feature for Creative Cloud members.

Introducing Guided Upright

We included Upright as a tool that helped Lightroom customers easily straighten images, fix horizons, and reduce or eliminate the keystone effect in buildings. Upright works well when there are prominent vertical and horizontal lines. Not all images contain prominent lines, limiting the effectiveness of Upright.

Starting with Lightroom CC 2015.6, Guided Upright allows you to provide ‘hints’ that enable Upright to work its magic. You draw the vertical and horizontal lines directly on the image and Upright will automatically transform the image. Here’s how to get started.

  • Select an image and click on the Develop Module.
  • Enable Lens Profile Corrections. Upright works better with Lens Profile Corrections.
  • Notice that there is a new “Transform” Panel. Transform includes both Upright and the manual perspective correction sliders together in a convenient place.
  • Within Transform, click on the “Guided” button.
  • Draw 2-4 guides on the image. Upright will transform the image once you draw at least 2 guides.
  • Fine tune the results (if needed) with the manual transform slides, including the new X and Y transform sliders. They can be used for repositioning/moving the image within the canvas after applying strong perspective corrections to choose which part of the (warped, non-rectangular) image to show within the rectangular canvas.

New Camera Support in Lightroom CC 2015.6 / 6.6

  • Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II
  • Leica M-D (Typ 262)
  • Nikon COOLPIX B700
  • Panasonic DMC-GX85 (DMC-GX80, DMC-GX7MK2)

Also please note that Lightroom CC 2015.6/6.6 also includes camera matching color profiles for the Pentax 645Z, Pentax K-1, and Pentax K-3 II cameras.

A list of new camera lens support can be found here.

Additional Updates in Lightroom CC 2015.6 / 6.6

  • Merge to Panorama and HDR now works with Smart Previews. Previously, Lightroom required the use of original images for the Merge to Panorama or HDR features.
  • The Preferences -> Lightroom mobile section now contains a “Pending Sync Activity” section. This area is useful for helping identify any potential issues related to image sync across the Lightroom family of applications (desktop, mobile and web).

We are working with our partners to resolve this issue. In the meantime, you can workaround this issue by disabling “Use Graphics Processor” in Lightroom’s preferences

Lightroom Mobile for iOS 2.3

Lightroom for iOS 2.3 is now available, bringing with it a few important improvements and bug fixes. Most notably, we’ve taken steps to reduce the amount of steps that it takes to edit a photo from your camera roll. We heard from a number of users that editing and sharing a single photo was really important, so we made it possible to start editing immediately with a single photo.

Importing multiple photos was also made easier by being able to swipe across a series of photos directly. By making it possible to start editing directly, you no longer have to find a photo, import it, find it again, and then start editing, so common workflows should be improved considerably.

We’re of course constantly working on ways to improve the many different workflows in Lightroom for iOS, and have a number of improvements in the pipeline. Let us know in the comments here what you think about this update as we all as what improvements you’d like to see in future builds of Lightroom for iOS.

Lightroom mobile 2.3 is available immediately for iPhones and iPads from the App Store.

New Features – Lightroom desktop

Dehaze as a Local Adjustment*

We added Dehaze as a global adjustment in the Lightroom CC 2015.1 release and are excited to see the widespread interest in the feature.  We wanted to extend the functionality, and I’m happy to announce that you can now apply Dehaze as a Local Adjustment.  This means that you can use Dehaze with the Radial Filter, Graduated Filter and Local Adjustment Brush.

* Please note that this feature is not available in the standalone version of Lightroom 6

Revamped Import

We redesigned the Import experience to make finding and importing your photos easier and more visual.  The redesign was driven by our desire to make the import workflow more explicit and clear. The workflow is 1. Select a source, 2. Select images 3.  Choose any import settings (optional) and 4. Import.

The revamped Import experience is based on customer feedback and we’re excited to hear what you think.

  • Select a Source:  There is a new “Add Photos” screen which scans to identify the potential locations for photos on your hard drive.  You can also easily select from a folder, a connected camera (via USB cable), a memory card, external hard drive, or Photoshop Elements catalog.
  • Select images:  The Import Dialog has been redesigned.  Your source will already be selected (you choose it in step 1) so you can specify which images to import.  We recommend importing all.
  • Choose any import settings (optional):  While there isn’t a need to change the default settings, you can open the gear icon (on the top right) to adjust and change import settings.
  • Hit the import button.

Improvements to “Import from Photoshop Elements” feature

In addition to Import, we’ve revamped the Import from Photoshop Elements experience.  Now you can migrate the images from your Photoshop Elements catalog into Lightroom easily.  To do so, click on the Photoshop Elements icon in the “Add Photos” screen (step 1 from above).  Select the Elements catalog and click the Import button.  Lightroom will handle the rest for you automatically.

New Features – Lr mobile 1.3 (Android)

  • Total color control. Refine the individual colors in your photos with the new Color / B&W adjustment tool.
  • Just the right tone. Precisely control the tone of your photo with the new Tone Curve adjustment tool.
  • Stand out. Bring out the best in your photos with adjustable vignettes.
  • Find your photos faster. The new ‘Lightroom Photos’ collection displays your Camera Roll photos and videos by date, so you can find them faster.
  • Your photo at its best. Crop the perfect photo with a redesigned experience that enables you to quickly adjust, align and auto-straighten.
  • TIFF Filetype Support

Download the updates from the Google Play store here

New Features – Lr mobile 2.o (iOS)

  • Free Lightroom! Unleash your creativity with free access to Lightroom for as long as you’d like on your smartphone or tablet.
  • Better photos in a snap. Capture amazing moments with the in-app Adobe camera, streamlining shoot to share.
  • Cut through the haze. Control the amount of atmospheric haze in your photos to recover color and contrast, or to create artistic effects, with the Dehaze adjustment tool.

  • Find your photos faster. The new ‘Lightroom Photos’ collection displays your Camera Roll photos and videos by date, so you can find them faster.

New Camera Support in Lightroom 6.2

* Please note that SuperRAW files from the DxO ONE are not supported.

New Tethered Camera Support in Lightroom 6.2

  • Leica M Monochrom

Bug Fixes  :

  • When migrating from Photoshop Elements, Lightroom included face regions which were previously either rejected or deleted in Elements.
  • The Eye dropper won’t sample color from image.  Please note that this occurred when GPU enabled on Windows only.
  • A range of AMD cards appear as unsupported on Windows.  Please note that this was resolved with the AMD 15.8 beta driver release, which is available here
  • The color matching camera profiles for the Olympus Style 1 and Stylus 1S disappeared after installing the Olympus 2.0 firmware upgrade.
  • JPGs exported from Lightroom CC can be incompatible with some other applications due to a non standard header.
  • Map, Book, publish, sync are not working for Creative Cloud Enterprise customers on Mac OSX 10.10.
  • The Flickr Publish Service includes people keywords when it shouldn’t.
  • All exported JPEGs in Slideshows have the same slide text.
  • Images rendered as swapped blocks within the Slideshow module.  Please note that this occurred only on Windows machines with AMD graphics cards.
  • Lightroom CC Slideshow Module takes over selected display monitor until LR is closed. Please note that this occurred only on Windows machines with AMD graphics cards.

Adobe Launches 2015 Creative Cloud Tools and Services

SAN JOSE, California, June 16, 2015 — Adobe today launched a milestone release of its flagship Adobe Creative Cloud tools and services. The 2015 release of Creative Cloud includes major updates to Adobe’s industry-defining desktop tools, including Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, Premiere Pro CC and InDesign CC; as well as new connected mobile apps for iOS and Android. The company also shipped Adobe Stock, the industry’s first stock content service to be integrated directly into the creative process and the tools creatives use every day. In addition, Adobe announced an expanded Creative Cloud enterprise offering that includes enterprise-grade administration, security, collaboration and publishing services for design-driven brands, businesses and large organizations.

“The 2015 release of Creative Cloud is packed with innovation. Adobe Stock, our brand new stock service, makes 40 million photos, vector graphics and illustrations accessible directly within your favorite CC desktop apps. Our CreativeSync technology deepens the connections between desktop apps and mobile apps on iOS and Android; and major updates to Creative Cloud’s infrastructure and administrative capabilities make this an essential upgrade for enterprise customers,” said David Wadhwani, senior vice president, Digital Media, Adobe. “Creative Cloud 2015 is our most powerful and comprehensive release to date.”

At the heart of Creative Cloud is Adobe CreativeSync, a signature technology that intelligently syncs creative assets: files, photos, fonts, vector graphics, brushes, colors, settings, metadata and more. With CreativeSync, assets are instantly available, in the right format, wherever designers need them – across desktop, web and mobile apps. Available exclusively in Creative Cloud, CreativeSync means work can be kicked off in any connected Creative Cloud mobile app or CC desktop tool; picked up again later in another; and finished in the designer’s favorite CC desktop software.

Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Bundle

Desktop Tools Take Giant Leap Forward

With the 2015 release of Creative Cloud, Adobe magic and Mercury performance provide speed and technology breakthroughs across 15 CC desktop applications, including :

  • Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, Photoshop CC introduces Artboards, the best way to design cross-device user experiences in a single Photoshop document and quickly preview them on a device; and a preview release of Photoshop Design Space, a sleek new work environment focused on the needs of mobile app and web site designers.
  • Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC both gain the new Dehaze feature, which appeared first as a MAX sneak in October 2014. Dehaze, eliminates fog and haze from photos, including underwater shots, for startlingly clear images. Haze can also be added to a photo for artistic effect.
  • Premiere Pro CC furthers its lead in the market with the addition of the Lumetri Color panel for powerful color corrections using intuitive sliders and other simple controls; and Morph Cut, which makes it easier to deliver polished interview content by smoothing out jump cuts in talking-head shots to create a cohesive, polished sequence.
  • After Effects CC now has Uninterrupted Preview to allow artists to adjust a composition’s properties and even resize panels without impacting playback. Also, the groundbreaking Adobe Character Animator brings 2D figures to life using a webcam to track facial movements, record dialog and apply movements in real time onto a pre-configured character.
  • Illustrator CC is now 10 times faster and 10 times more precise than CS6. Powered by dramatic boosts to its Mercury Performance Engine, users can now pan and zoom smoothly without delays. With the new Chart tool (preview), designers can also create beautiful custom charts and share them with others via CC Libraries.
  • InDesign CC gets its own Mercury performance surge with zooming, scrolling, and paging through complex documents now twice as fast. InDesign now also allows users to publish and distribute documents with a single click.
  • Dreamweaver CC has new responsive web design capabilities that let designers quickly lay out and build production-ready sites that adapt to any screen size.
  • Adobe Muse now includes instant access to premium fonts from Typekit.
  • And much, much more. Additional updates to these and other CC desktop applications make this one of the biggest releases in years.

Mobile to Desktop Workflows Enhanced with Android Support, New Mobile Apps

Since Creative Cloud was introduced in 2012, Adobe has championed the idea that mobile devices should be integral to the creative process, with free companion mobile apps working seamlessly with CC desktop tools. Adobe today released Brush CC, Shape CC, Color CC and Photoshop Mix on Android for the first time, bringing connected mobile workflows to millions of creatives worldwide. Adobe has also updated many of its popular Creative Cloud mobile apps for iPhone and iPad, including Adobe Comp CC, Photoshop Mix, Photoshop Sketch, Illustrator Draw, Brush CC, Shape CC and Color CC.

In addition to these updates, Adobe debuted Adobe Hue CC today. Hue CC provides an easy way to capture and share production-quality lighting and color schemes – for video, film and broadcast – by using an iPhone camera and then applying these light and color moods into a Premiere Pro CC or After Effects CC project.

Adobe Stock Content Service Launched, With Deep Creative Cloud Integration

Adobe Creative Cloud is evolving into a vibrant global marketplace. Adobe Talent, introduced in 2014, connects the world’s best creatives with work opportunities from major brands and agencies; and today the company launched Adobe Stock, the first stock content service to be integrated directly into the creative process and the tools that creatives use every day (see separate press release). Now creatives can jump-start projects, with access to 40 million images, right within tools such as Photoshop CC, InDesign CC and Illustrator CC. Adobe also announced it will offer industry-leading rates to photographers and designers contributing content to Adobe Stock.

Creative Cloud Enabling the Digital Transformation of Enterprises

Major enhancements to Creative Cloud for enterprise were also announced today: a solution for large commercial, education and government customers who must radically speed the development and publishing of customer experiences, as part of their digital transformation strategies. This edition includes all the product features from today’s Creative Cloud 2015 release, plus expanded security options and deep connections with Adobe Digital Publishing Solution (DPS) and Adobe Marketing Cloud. Two new security capabilities ensure protection of corporate assets, including customer-managed encryption keys and a new managed service hosting option, which offers dedicated storage behind a customer’s firewall. Creative Cloud for enterprise also supports an upcoming release of DPS, empowering existing teams in organizations to rapidly design and publish mobile apps without writing code. A public beta of this major update to DPS is available this week, with more information available at http://adobe.ly/dpsnextgen.  Content from Creative Cloud for enterprise also syncs with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), a key component of Adobe Marketing cloud, to accelerate marketing campaigns by streamlining creative-to-marketing workflows.

Today’s updates to CC desktop and mobile apps are immediately available for download by Creative Cloud members as part of their membership at no additional cost. Membership plans are available for individuals, students, teams, educational institutions, government agencies and enterprises. Adobe Releases Lightroom 5.6 Update

Adobe has released Lightroom Version 5.6 and Camera RAW 8.6 and DNG Converter 8.6
The new Lightroom software corrects the following bugs :

  • Collections with a custom sort order would sometimes not properly sync with Lightroom mobile.
  • Updated the “Adobe Standard” color profile for the Nikon D810. Please note that this only impacts customers who used Camera Raw 8.6 or DNG Converter 8.6 to convert NEF raw files from the D810 to DNG
  • Star ratings set in Lightroom mobile did not properly sync to Lightroom desktop. Please note that this only occurred on images that were added to Lightroom mobile from the camera roll
  • Resolved the issues causing the persistent “Syncing … images” state that some of our customers have reported.”
  • Star ratings would sometimes not sync from Lightroom desktop to Lightroom mobile. Please note that this only occurred when attempting to sync a Collection that contained more than 100 photos that already contained star ratings.
  • Added information to the “System Info” dialogue to help designate if the customer installed Lightroom from the Creative Cloud.
  • Unable to open sRaw files from the Nikon D810. Please note that this only impacted customers that converted D810 sRaw files to DNG in either Camera Raw 8.6 RC or DNG Converter 8.6 RC.
  • Images with invalid GPS coordinates would not properly sync with Lightroom mobile
  • Lightroom occasionally crashed when changing image selection on Windows. Please note that this only occurred on the Windows platform.
  • JPEG files exported from Lightroom would not open or be available to edit within Canon Digital Photo Professional application software.
  • Lightroom would run in reduced functionality mode when it should not.
