Canon EOS-M5 Mirrorless Camera Coming Before Photokina 2016

Canon EOS-M5 APS-C mirrorless camera?

As reported earlier, Canon will be announcing the new EOS-M5 mirrorless camera with the APS-C sensor soon, perhaps as early as mid month, before the big Photokina show in Cologne, Germany, instead of later in Q4.

Expected specs of EOS-M5 mirrorless camera :

• 24MP APS-C sensor (similar to EOS-80D camera)
• Built-in, flip up electronic viewfinder
• New and improved AF system (The EOS-M line sorely needs one)
• Better egornomics and improved feel and handling
• Camera sold with EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens kit
• Price will just a bit higher than the EOS-M3, with much better performance

The replacement to two of my favorite Canon short zoom lens will be announced next week. The EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II and EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II. In addition, the long awaited, EOS-5D Mark IV will also be introduced. This camera is in effect a little brother to the flag ship EOS-1D X Mark II.

Latest Info On Canon EOS-5D Mark IV Camera

I reported last week my sources informed me Canon will be adding a brand new feature to the upcoming EOS-5D Mark IV camera. They are playing their cards very close to their chest and not revealing much except to generate maximum publicity and excitement for the launch next month.

The EOS-5D Mark IV is Canon's most anticipated pro camera after the EOS-1D X Mark II because it promises a continuation of the highly successful EOS-5D line into a new decade. My latest information points to the camera coming with dual card slots - CFast 2.0 and the newer SDXC UHS-II.

Canon will be announcing the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II lens with the new camera. This is my favorite Canon 'wide to short' zoom 'L' lens and it can really take advantage of an upgrade. Looks like Canon has decided to offer the new camera and lens as a kit. I have not decided whether to buy the EOS-5D Mark IV when it comes out. I view the new camera as a little brother to the EOS-1D X Mark II and a more agile cousin to the EOS-5Ds. However, I will definitely buy the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS Series II lens.

So what brand new feature would you like to see in a pro DSLR body that is unavailable so far? Don't know about you but I certainly would like to see a built-in flash instead of the GPS, but that wouldn't happen.

Canon is trying to keep the Mark IV's list price as close to the Mark III ($3,499) as possible but the appreciation of the Yen is making it very difficult for them. Below is the latest information I have on the new camera right now.  The EOS-5D Mark IV will be announced on August 25, in time for the Photokina Show in Cologne, Germany on September 20. Keep checking back. I am trying to confirm more specs as the announcement is approaching.

Tamron Patents 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 VC Lens

I am back from my Alaska/Canada Wildlife Photo Tour. It was my annual shoot and this time I put the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II camera to more real world tests. Beginning to get back to my daily routine and keeping my readers up to date on the latest photography news while I was away.

Tamron is planning to wow the Photokina attendees with multiple lens announcements in September. The latest patent discovered by Egami is the 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 for APS-C sensors. By the way, Sigma is planning to do the same and take a look at what Canon has installed for us for the rest of 2016, including the EOS-5D Mark IV camera, scheduled to be announced August 25.
