Magic Lantern Installation Guide Video

A few days ago, I reported the programmers at Magic Lantern succeeded in recording 2K RAW video with the Canon EOS-5D Mk III. See my earlier post on this topic. The software is not sanctioned by Canon but for those who want to go ahead and install the ML software, my suggestions is to install the current stable build and get to know the workings of Magic Lantern first. Dave Dugdale from Learning DSLR Video produced a step-by-step video (see above) that will make installing the Magic Lantern software much easier.

Make sure you have a fully charged battery before doing anything else. Reset the camera to the factory settings, and insert and format a 32GB or smaller memory card. Follow all instructions carefully and if you are successful, you will see the screen below on your camera.

Pressing the 'Trash Can' button on the back of your computer will bring up the Magic Lantern menu. There will be a few new capabilities available to you, courtesy of the programmers at Magic Lantern, and in the not too distant future, the new features will include RAW video.
