Canon Patent - EF 28-560mm f/2.8-5.6L IS Super Zoom Lens

Egami has uncovered a Canon patent for a super zoom lens, the EF 28-560mm f/2.8-5.6. I have reported earlier about Canon's plan on releasing the EF 200-600mm lens some time in 2017. This new glass will be a nice addition or replacement to the current EF 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6L IS super zoom, which is one of my favorite glass for wildlife photography. If Canon does decided to release this lens, it will be rather large and heavy because the current EF 28-300mm glass already weighs almost 3.7 pounds. In July, I reported Canon filed a 'crazy' patent for a EF 40-800mm f/4.5-5.6 lens. A patent is just that, a claim on some intellectual property. It is a long way from being a prototype, let alone a marketable product.
