Canon EF 200-400mm f/4 in 2012 Olympics |
Next week is the PhotoPlus Expo show in New York City. It goes from October 24 - 27, 2012. Canon has been doing a great job keeping the lid on any leaks about what they will be announcing before the show. The most logical and long awaited announcement will be the official unveiling of the EF 200-400mm f/4 + 1.4X lens. This lens has been in development for almost 18 months and thoroughly tested in Africa and during the 2012 London Olympics, among other venues all over the world.
The announcement of the development of a new megapixel, full frame DSLR with a 'game changing' sensor may be pushed into early 2013. Canon is still being dogged by some manufacturing problems, compounded by their supply chain worries in Asia, especially China.
We should expect some confirmation of the Canon EOS-1D C being shipped by the end of the year. Canon has put a lot of effort and energy into wooing the video and movie production business and this camera and the two new video lenses they have introduced recently will go a long way to cement their commitment to the industry.
