Canon EOS-7D MK II Announcement In CES Show?

Please read the most current post to get the latest news on the EOS-7D Mk II

There is a rumor that Canon may announce the EOS-7D MK II camera during the Consumer Electronic Show next week. Canon France has published a teaser hint on their Facebook page a few days ago. The current EOS-7D is three years old and the technology is long in the tooth. The replacement camera is rumored to have the following new features :

  • 10 fps
  • 25 to 30 AF points
  • New 20+ MP sensor
  • Dual Digic 5+ processors
  • ISO range 100-25600
  • Expected delivery in April 2013

I am eagerly awaiting the EOS-7D MK II to arrive. The current camera is my favorite APS-C body for wildlife photography and my pick for the best value in cropped frame DSLR cameras three years running. You can read my review of the camera here and see many photos taken with it on my website.

This would be so awesome! And it better be less than $1800 since it probably won't have a full frame. 10fps would be a nice improvement over the already decent 7fps and seeing a digic5+ in it can tell you it will have better low light capabilities!

The EOS-7D is my favorite APS-C camera. Although its high ISO performance is fair, its 8 fps and good AF system more than makes up for it. I expect the MK II to be quite an improvement and the list price will be about $2,000. Of course, it will quickly come down once the camera is available. I know the sale price will start coming down in about a couple of months after full availability.
