The rumored Canon 75+ MP sensor being tested is apparently a Non Bayer Multilevel Sensor. This technology was patented earlier this year. It is nothing unusual and Canon experiments with new technology all the time but the chances of most new patents turning into marketable products are low.
I am very skeptical Canon has a prototype camera out in the field with this rumored sensor and still expect them to introduce a megapixel EOS-1 camera some time next year in the neighborhood of around 40+ MP sensor. There is a chance Canon may introduce the megapixel camera later this year but delivery will most likely be in early 2014.
