Nikon Announces Development Of D4S Camera

Canon EOS-1D X and Nikon D4 cameras

* * * Nikon D4s camera officially announced * * *

At the CES 2014, Nikon has announced their D3300, an entry-level DSLR. This new camera has a 24-megapixel sensor without an optical low pass filter, powered by the new EXPEED 4 image processor and comes with a new small and retractable standard zoom kit lens. Nikon has also announced the development of the D4S, their new flagship DSLR. It will have a new processor, more advanced AF performance, and the camera is on display at the Consumer Electronic Show, currently taking place in Las Vegas.

Frankly, I find this D4S 'announcement' to be a blatant attempt to cash in on the media attention during the CES. Canon has released a Firmware 2.0.3 upgrade to their EOS-1D X camera and it will be able to stand up to the new Nikon D4S, upon its release. I do not expect Canon to release a replacement to the EOS-1D X until 2015.

I have been a Travel and Wildlife photographer using Canon equipment for about 25 years and my readers know I have picked the EOS-1D X to be the best, full frame professional DSLR on the market today. Visit me on MichaelDanielHo.com to see my works.
