Finally received my production model Canon EOS-7D Mk II camera with the BG-E16 grip. I have spent a few hours with it and wrote a preliminary review. Don't have a lot of time because I am leaving for a Polar bear photo shoot. Glad I got the camera in time and will put it through some grueling field tests. Keep checking back on this blog for the latest photos and updated review. I will try and post some images while on location. MichaelDanielHo.com
By the way, click here to see how well built the EOS-7D camera can be.

I know it's much better than the 7D, but is it altogether better than the EOS-1D Mk IV or even a mini EOS-1D X? Can't wait to see your photos from the field.
I have received my production model Canon EOS-7D Mk II camera. Just in time, leaving for a Polar bear shoot. Will put the camera through some tough tests and try and update this blog with photos and comments while on location.
It's finally here. Looks like the Canon EOS-7D Mk II did not disappoint. Hurry up and post some wildlife photos from the field. Can't wait to see them.
Your review of the Canon EOS-7D Mk II makes great reading. So far, all the reviews out there just talk about how great the camera performs under normal conditions. You put the camera through hell and tested its mettle. Love your wildlife photos and waiting to see more updates to your opinions of the new 7D2.
I am back from my Polar bear photo shoot in the Canadian tundra with the Canon EOS-7D Mk II camera. The temperatures and conditions were very harsh, exactly what I had wanted to experience in order to test the camera and its claims under real world situations. Click on the review to read my report.
Good review. I have also received my Canon EOS-7D Mk II and have taken it out for some wildlife photography but under favorable conditions. It's under adverse circumstances that one finds out how well a camera really performs.
Thanks for this field report. I need to hear what the camera cannot do instead of what it can do. It helps me decide whether it's worth the money to upgrade.
The Canon EOS-7D is a great camera. There is no doubt the Mk II will be much better than its predecessor. However, one must be realistic in one's expectations. After all, it's only in the prosumer category and priced that way, in line with its APS-C heritage. Very interesting review. Good work.
Thanks for this realistic review. It seems the EOS-7D Mk2 is a very good camera but far from being the little brother of the EOS-1D X. It has some growing up to do yet.
Superb review. When almost everyone is singing the praises of a new camera, I need to hear from someone who has found something that is not perfect with it. Your review is thorough and realistic, thanks.
It seems everyone is singing the Canon EOS-7D 2 praises but you are a bit less sanguine. I like a bit of caution and those not too caught up in the hype of the moment.
