Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS II Lens Specifications

Canon EF 400mm f/4 DO IS II Super Telephoto lens

Canon is expected to release a Series II version of the EF-400mm f/4 DO IS USM lens very soon. Digicame, the Japanese photography blog has published some specs on this new lens. Although not the sharpest lens in Canon's EF lineup, the current model is my favorite Super Telephoto because of its light weight and versatility. I am most interested in buying this lens once it is available.

EF 400mm f/4 DO IS II lens specs :

  •     Total length : 232.7mm, 9.16 inch
  •     Weight : 2100 grams, 4.62 pounds
  •     Third generation DO technology with large-aperture UD lens
  •     One large-diameter aspherical lens grinding
  •     4 stop IS compensation
  •     Special coating SWC
  •     Weather sealed against dust and water

Good looking lens, I hate to see what the asking price for that lens will be.

I have the Series I lens and is one of my favorite Super Telephoto lens in Canon's lineup. Already contacted my equipment supplier and I am on their list to get the lens as soon as it comes in. Plan to take it to the sub Arctic in Autumn to photograph wildlife and test the glass under extremely cold conditions. I hope the list price to be between $7,500 to $8,500. Will write a comprehensive review as soon as possible. Keep checking back on this blog for photos and comments.
