Canon May Exit Low Price Compact Camera Market
According to the Japanese blog, Nikkan Kogyo's article, Canon may exit the market for low-priced, point-n-shoot cameras priced below $200. The low end of the camera market is getting very crowded and competitive. Smart phones are getting smarter and the cameras on them, better with every new model introduced.
Canon is planning to make 2014 their 'comeback' year by emerging from their recent 'funk' and introduce genuinely new and exciting upgrade products instead of the tired 'new and improved' merchandise. As a travel and wildlife photographer using Canon equipment for 25 years, I have been an observer of the company and made some comments on their strategy last year.
