Canon Big Megapixel Camera Announcement

Canon EOS-1 big megapixel camera project

Ever since Canon discontinued the EOS-1Ds Mk III camera over a year ago, they are left with no professional model with a 'big' megapixel sensor. Nikon has the D800, full frame megapixel cameras on the market, with the 36 MP sensor.

Now word is Canon may be ready to answer Nikon's 'dominance' of the megapixel world with the announcement of their own long rumored, megapixel camera project in the Autumn, with availability in camera stores by early 2014. We know there are Canon prototypes floating around out there with sensors ranging from 40 - 50 MP. Rumor is the upcoming EOS-7D Mk II will share some of the similar technologies with the new megapixel camera. This is in line with my reporting that the EOS-7D Mk II camera may morph into a baby EOS-1D X. See my earlier post on this topic. I am eagerly awaiting the announcement of the EOS-7D Mk II, perhaps in the second half of the year.
