The Canon EOS-70D is expected to be officially announced next week. See my earlier post on this topic. The rumor about a new line of smaller DSLR from Canon has also sparked new speculations on their possible specifications. However, the upcoming new Rebel camera may have the following specs.
New, EOS Rebel specifications :
- 18 MP APS-C sensor (same as the EOS M and EOS 650D)
- DIGIC 5
- Touchscreen similar to the EOS-M
- 9 AF points
- A new hybrid CMOS auto-focus
- 98% viewfinder
- 6 fps
- ISO up to 25,600
- EF and EF-S lens support
- HD video
These are very early days for speculating on any possible new line of smaller DSLR to perhaps replace the EOS-M and complement the Canon Rebel line but Canon better make sure any new consumer grade cameras they offer from now on does not share the AF capability of the much criticized EOS-M.
